Inward Eye is in your face

Origin: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Genre: post-punk, alternative rock

At the start of the year, a trio of brothers played the closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. I'd only heard of them shortly prior to then- a band by the name of Inward Eye. The single "Day After Day" caught my attention upon the release of their full-length debut, Throwing Bricks Instead of Kisses, in July 2009.

The energetic post-punk these guys play is fantastic. Although not the best thing to wake up or go to bed to, their music is great for midday refuels. "Shame" is funky with its quarter note rhythms, the lead single "Day After Day" utilizes a catchy hook, and the cutest la-la-la I've ever heard is employed in "Liar". The album sounds fun and has a light-hearted vibe.

They bring back a sense of 90s style, yet fit right into the modern glam scene. Inward Eye is representing the keystone province, not quite radio friendly, and in your face. The only thing I can think to ask for is a little more variety.
