"Core" is RL Grime's first cut from his debut full-length record on WEDIDIT, the title of which has yet to be announced. Otherwise known as Clockwork, the LA-based producer (real name: Henry Steinway) is part of the WEDIDIT collective alongside other EDM greats Shlohmo and Ryan Hemsworth, and has more EPs to his name since 2011 than most, some of which were picked up by Mad Decent, Dim Mak, and Fool's Gold.
The lead single features a killer drop, controlled as always, with trap elements and a slight tribal influence (which Steinway typically reserves for music he releases under his Clockwork moniker). After its first climax, "Core" doesn't seem to build to anything more explosive. Which leads me to believe it's a tease for the rest of the album material, coming in the fall.
