When "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" first came out, I was relatively pleased at the effort. A couple days later, it was being discussed on radio morning shows. One comment in particular stood out: that the pressure was on to have their song played for New Year's again. (Last year, it was "I Gotta Feeling".) This host thought the Dirty Dancing portion was a cop-out and the overall consensus was that the classic was butchered.
Personally, I was never fond the song to begin with, so the additional beats actually made it for me. And yes, it is most likely to be the song blasting through Nathan Phillips Square speakers on December 31st. If someone has a better suggestion, they'd better speak up... because undeniably, chart-topping feel-good pop anthems are what the Black Eyed Peas are known for.
