Elephante blows up "Rather Be" with perfect timing

And the remixes continue. As a summer tune, Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" was near flawless to start with, and Elephante recognized that. "Every now and then there's a song that turns me into a six year old, just a super embarrassing giggling puddle of happiness, and makes me want to go roll around in a park and eat popsicles and stuff," he says. That's "Rather Be."

This deep house producer, otherwise known as Tim Wu from Ann Arbor, Michigan, has been releasing big remakes of the biggest hits this summer, including "Team," "#SELFIE," "Dark Horse," and "Summer." With the knowledge that Wu is classically trained pianist / songwriter (and a Harvard graduate), the pieces of his recent breakthrough begin to fall in place. His original mixes are huge, but honed at a macrocosmic level, then broken into instrumentally-diverse microcosms. Take the thematic progression on "Empire," for example.

Elephante may seem like the excitable type, but does he ever stay tight. Summer on.
